Mixed Media Valentine Tag

tag 1

Hello lovelies!  Today I am sharing a mixed media Valentine tag with you.  In a recent play day with some artsy chicas, we worked on a variety of backgrounds and techniques for Tim Holtz style tags.  I had just ordered this amazing damask set by Stampers Anonymous and was dying to get it inky!  Not to mention, playing with this new Queen's Gold embossing powder - it's gorgeous!!!  (Thanks Char and Nancy!)

tag 2

I bathed my tag twice in Aged Mahogany DI, drying between layers.  Then gave it a dip of Vintage Photo.  I stamped a script stamp (Hero Arts) and dots in Vintage Photo to add more depth.  I really wanted to use this pretty woman stamp by Stampington and ended up sponging ink on her to give her a flesh toned appearance.

tag 3

I layered with some Prima paper and a Sizzix Valentine strip die, which I colored with Aged Mahogany and then cracked with the same color Distress Crackle Paint.  I finished it off with the cast off of one of Tim's border dies, cut from glittered sticker tape.  The charm is also by Tim and is secured with one of his cool vintage pins around some antique seam binding.  So this tag is a bit of old and a bit of new.  Hope you like it!

Ooooh... very cool on all levels... or should I say layers? I just love it all, Autumn! Can't even decide my favorite part. I love the lady. I am a taddy-bit jealous of your Mahogany crackle... it looks truly old. Yummo. And to finish this comment: something about damask in mahogany and gold... feels so right...

Good things come in small sizes! Your tag looks awesome, Autumn, and I love how you described the process, like "bathing" the tag in ink and giving it a "dip" of Vintage Photo. The crackle effect looks fantastic too!

Oh wow Autumn - it's lovely. Especially like the deep rich red color. This is so ELEGANTLY EXQUISITE looking through and through. And the sentiment is very special... love every day. You know - it's easy when it's someone like our children etc. But sometimes a bit harder to remember to love everyday FIRST and then deal with the unlovable challenges!! Some days I literally have to stop and think... what is lovable about this person/situation! IT helps!!! Anyway - I'm rambling but... your creation is not only rich in elegance and color but rich in encouraging us to LOVE EVERYDAY!!!!!!! Hugs. j.

Autumn
Apologies for not managing to visit before now, I have so missed viewing your beautiful art.
This is divine! The colour is so full of richness and the background, oh my word, how beautiful. There is just so much that stands-out, the focal image, the beautiful text and also the use of the large X and O. Definitely falling in love with this creation!!!
